Hiking from Longji to Pingan Village - Blog

This is a beautiful hike through the rice terraces surrounding the villages of Ping'an and Longji. We set out from Guillin around 8am, the drive to Longji Ancient Zhuang Village (Longji Gu Zhuang Zhai) where we started the hike was around 2 hours.

After arriving in Longji we starting hiking along a boardwalk that eventually transitioned into a mostly stone path with gorgeous views of the famous rice terraces. The trail takes you through several villages with plenty of restaurants to choose from for lunch. In some places the path is also lined with locals hawking their wares, from smoking hot bamboo poles to local snacks and hand crafted souvenirs. We purchased several fruit snacks from vendors along the way which hit the spot on a hot day. It was a very immersive experience trekking through this area, there is a lot to take in in a relatively short distance. There were plenty of opportunities to view and interact with locals tending the fields, working in and around the villages or flying past us on the trail carrying woven baskets on their backs as though we weren't even moving.

The entire hike took about an hour, it was relatively easy there was nothing more than a few moderate elevation gains. It was definitely on the warmer side when we were there in October, some type of sun hat is highly recommended for this one.
