Whether you are allowed to camp here with a vehicle or not is a question that at this point remains unanswered. As far as scenic places you can easily drive to for a night of camping go though this one has to be right near the top.

You'll need 4WD to get a vehicle down to the river (and maybe more to get back out), but you can drive most of the way without it and walk your gear down the final 100 yards or so stretch if you choose. It was raining to some degree pretty much the whole time but that comes with the territory.

The ground was mostly rock next to the river but there were a few spots higher up the bank that would be suitable for pitching a tent that also had some tree cover.

There was plenty of wildlife to be seen in and around the river, especially at dusk. There was an otter cruising up and down the opposite bank catching dinner while we kicked back and had some evening beers, this alone was worth the price of admission. Highly recommended.

After a brief discussion on the likelihood we'd be in the middle of the river in the morning due to rising tides, we parked for the night

We camped beside the river but there were a couple of nice campsites up the bank that weren't too shabby and still had a view of the river
