Inca Trail to Machu Picchu - Just like the Incas only mas lento

Pound for pound this has got to be on the short list for best hikes in the world. It is a 4 day hike where you pass through 7 different ancient ruins along the way, each more impressive than the last. This culminates with your arrival at one of the seven wonders of the modern world. We booked the trip through a company called Llama Path, one of our guides had a history degree specializing in Incan culture and shared a wealth of knowledge with the group along the trail at every stop.

We set out with 3 in our immediate group and were paired with about ten other hikers for the trek. Unfortunately one of our group had to tap out at the first rest stop due to illness, never confirmed but most likely seafood from the day before in Cusco.

For its combination of affordability and jaw dropping spectacle this one is hard to top. An absolute bucket list item for hikers of any level, no two ways about it.
